Grayson High Loading Up on Football Talent
A fourth blue-chip football prospect this year has transferred to the state semi-finalist.

GRAYSON, GA -- It's not unusual for high-school students to transfer schools. But, at Grayson High, some of those transfers could make Friday nights more exciting this fall.
As the AJC reports, Tony Gray, a blue-chip offensive tackle from Central Gwinnett, transferred to Grayson this week.
His move makes him the fourth highly-ranked football recruit to transfer to Grayson this year. That, Todd Holcomb at the AJC writes, has gained Grayson more high-profile football transfers in one off-season than arguably any team in Georgia high-school history.

Gray is ranked by recruiting sites as Georgia's No. 13 overall prospect.
Top-ranked DeAngelo Gibbs, a cornerback from Peachtree Ridge, No. 6 Jamyest Williams, a running back and cornerback from Archer, and No. 24-ranked Breon Dixon, a linebacker from Peachtree Ridge, similarly moved into Grayson's school district this year.

Dixon has already committed to play college ball for Georgia and Chase Brice, the team's returning quarterback, is the state's 26th-ranked recruit who has committed to Clemson.
That gives Grayson five of the top 12 senior prospects (according to 247Sports) in Georgia's new Class AAAAAAA division for next season.
Gray was the first high-profile football transfer to Grayson since Coach Jeff Herron took over for Mickey Conn, who left Grayson to take a coaching position on the staff at Clemson.
Last season, the Rams made a run to the Class AAAAA state semifinals, losing a heartbreaker to Roswell in an epic, back-and-forth game.
Conn, Grayson's only football coach since its football program started, left with a record of 137-48, having won seven region championships and one state championship, in 2011.
