Grayson Man Stabs Dog In Eye With Screwdriver, Jailed: Police

A Gwinnett man is in the Cobb jail Friday, charged with animal cruelty after police said he stabbed a dog in the eye with a screwdriver.

SMYRNA, GA — A Grayson man is in the Cobb County Jail Friday, charged with animal cruelty for killing a dog by stabbing it in the eye with a screwdriver, said authorities.

Noradino Riveria, 36, of Grayview Court in Grayson is accused of punching and strangling a small dog early Sunday morning at a house on Diane Drive in Smyrna, according to the arrest warrant obtained by The Marietta Daily Journal.

“Said accused then grabbed a screwdriver and stabbed the animal in the eye causing it to die,” according to the warrant. The Marietta newspaper reported that his last name was spelled Rivera on the warrant.

The accused was arrested Sunday and charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals, with bond set at $10,000. As of Friday afternoon, he remained in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center in Marietta.
