Grayson Standout Smith Medically Disqualified From GA Tech Team

Jeremiah Smith was a top college-football prospect from Grayson High who helped the Rams win three region titles and a state championship.

GRAYSON, GA — Former Grayson High School standout Jeremiah Smith has been medically disqualified from playing football, effectively ending his college career at Georgia Tech.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Saturday that Smith had been placed on a medical scholarship, thus not counting against the Yellowjackets’ limit of only 85 athletic scholarships.

Smith’s father Rudy said his son was “in good spirits and looking forward to continuing his education at Tech," according to the Atlanta newspaper.

The reason for the medical disqualification was not disclosed.

Smith, who played safety, was a top prospect out of high school who helped the Grayson Rams to three region titles and a state championship.
