Gwinnett Basketball Standout Killed In Alabama Car Accident
The South Gwinnett basketball standout died Sunday of injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident near Cook Springs, Alabama.
LOGANVILLE, GA — A star Gwinnett high-school basketball player was killed Sunday afternoon in a one-vehicle accident in Alabama.
DeJuan Horne II, 21, of Loganville died of injuries sustained when his vehicle left Interstate 20/59 near Cook Springs, Alabama, and hit a metal guard rail, according to The Anniston Star.
Horne was taken to University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham, where he later was pronounced dead. According to the Alabama Highway Patrol, the accident is under investigation.

Horne was a 6-foot-2 guard who later played for Combine Prep Academy in North Carolina after a standout career at South Gwinnett High School, according to The Gwinnett Daily Post. Horne then played for Dodge County County Community College in Kansas and Lawson State Community College in Alabama.
“Once a Comet, always a Comet,” South Gwinnett’s athletic department tweeted Tuesday. “Rest easy. DeJuan will be missed.”
