Gwinnett Man Points Laser At Helicopter, Gets Pointed To Jail
The man denied aiming a laser at a Gwinnett police helicopter until he was confronted with video of him doing just that, authorities said.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — A Lawrenceville man was arrested late Thursday night for pointing a laser at a police helicopter, according to a statement from the Gwinnett County Police Department.
Theodore Rowe of Twin Brook Way is accused of using a laser against an aircraft, a misdemeanor. He posted bond and was released Friday morning from the Gwinnett County jail.
Authorities say Rowe initially denied pointing a green laser at the cockpit of a police helicopter until he was confronted with video of him doing just that.

Rowe’s case will also be referred to the Federal Aviation Administration, where it will be considered by the U.S. Attorney’s office for possible federal prosecution.
“Pointing a laser at an aircraft is extremely dangerous as it can hinder the pilot’s ability to handle the aircraft and interfere with equipment on board,” said Hideshi Valle, public information officer for the Gwinnett police. “This is illegal, criminal in nature but most important unsafe.”
