Gwinnett Restaurant Inspections: Checkers, Chili's, McCray's

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — Thinking of going out for a bite to eat? Then check out these inspection scores for restaurant and food-service operations conducted over the last week in Gwinnett County.

Most of the 65 restaurants inspected since May 26 scored an A, with 15 operations scoring a perfect score of 100. But two restaurants — Thank U Chicken in Duluth and Oaxaca Tacos and Tequila Bar in Lawrenceville — scored less than 70 and were deemed "unacceptable." Those restaurants have direct links to their inspection reports with their listings below. Restaurants with failing scores are typically given a second chance and re-inspected a week or so later.

How They're Rated

Each item on an inspection form has a point value ranging from 1 to 9 points, with violations deducting points from the best possible score of 100. Higher points are taken for items with higher risk to cause illness, while repeat violations take even more points.

Letter grades assigned are A for totals of 100 to 90 points, B for 89 to 80, C for 79 to 70, and U for less than 70.
