Gwinnett Woman Dies After Rescue From Early Morning House Fire
A Gwinnett woman died of her injuries Tuesday morning after being pulled from a burning house on Whitney Park Drive in Duluth.
GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — A woman died of her injuries Tuesday morning after being rescued from a burning house in Duluth.
Gwinnett County firefighters were called to a home on Whitney Park Drive in Duluth just before 1 a.m., according to multiple media reports. When they got there, heavy flames and smoke already were swirling out of the two-story house.
Pushing past flames, heat and smoke, firefighters were able to pull an elderly woman out of the house who was trapped in a back bedroom. She was taken to a hospital where she later died. Her name has not been released.

A man and his caretaker both escaped the burning house. No other injuries were reported.
Investigators believe the fire may have started accidentally in an enclosed back porch, according to Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson Capt. Tommy Rutledge.
