How Are You Celebrating Armed Forces Day?

Jr. ROTC cadets from South Gwinnett High School and others in the local area are using the occasion to again make donations to the men and women currently serving overseas with the military.

For the last two years there has been a a 1-mile fun run at Meridian Park in Loganville to raise funds for the men and women serving overseas in the military. According to Sgt. Christopher Diaz, commander of South Gwinnett High School's Jr. ROTC, although there is no fun run this year, they are not going to let that stop them getting together donations to send to men and women in the armed forces serving overseas.

"We were not able to get the 1 Mile Fun Run set up this year, however, we still recieved donations from my Sunday School class and my fellow teachers and Cadets from South Gwinnett High School," Diaz said. "It is an honor to give back to those currently serving. My Co-Worker Lutentant Colonel Flegler told the Cadets a story about how much he appreciated the toilet he recieved when he was delpoyed, that is why there was so much toilet paper donated."

Diaz said any items donated will be given to the Womens Auxillary Corps in the American Legion in Loganville and they will pack them up and ship them out to deployed Military members.
