Loganville Burn Ban Lifted

Watering restrictions for Walton and Gwinnett counties, issued by the state, still remain in effect.

LOGANVILLE, GA — All the rain we've gotten over the past week has made a difference.

The City of Loganville has announced that it is lifting the outdoor burn ban that was put into place on November 21.

While the city, and much of north Georgia, continues to suffer under drought conditions, about three inches of rain that fell in the past few days was enough to lessen the threat that led to the complete ban on outdoor burning.

"We have spoken with state officials and were given the green light to go ahead and lift the ban," Loganville Fire Department Chief Danny Roberts said in a news release. "But we want to make sure and remind residents that they need to make sure to call and see if burning is allowed on a given day."

Residents inside the city limits of Loganville are not required to obtain a burn permit, but must call 770-554- 9693 and follow the automated system to find out if weather conditions will allow for outdoor burning.

The City of Loganville utilizes information from the Georgia Forestry Commission to help determine whether outdoor burning should be permitted.

Despite the lifted ban, Walton and Gwinnett counties remain under Level 2 drought restrictions issued by the state. This limits outdoor watering to two days a week. For more information on watering restrictions, visit the City of Loganville website.
