Loose Bear Cub On The Run In Gwinnett, No Mama In Sight
A young bear was first seen Wednesday near Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Norcross. As of Thursday, it's still loose.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — A young bear is on the loose in Norcross, and authorities are trying to find it.
The animal was first spotted Wednesday at the intersection of Jimmy Carter Boulevard and South Peachtree Street. Since then, the bear has been seen “in several locations in the downtown Norcross area,” Erin Taylor of the Norcross Police Department told Patch.
The bear is believed to be a cub, said Lt. Robert Braud of the Norcross Police, as reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. However, its mother is nowhere to be found. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has since been called in to handle the situation.

Bear sightings in Norcross are rare but “not uncommon,” Taylor said. In fact, there have been a number of bear sightings in that part of the county over the years.
Residents who see the bear are asked to call 911 or the Norcross Police Department at 770-448-2111.
