Man, 21, Reportedly Drowns in Lake Lanier
Hall County authorities say he tried to swim across a cove near Buford.

A 21-year-old Stone Mountain man reportedly drowned Sunday night after trying to swim across a Lake Lanier cove.
The body of Daruba McFarlane was found around 9 p.m. by Hall County authorities in the Big Creek Park area of the lake near Buford, according to reports.
Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Deputy Nicole Bailes said McFarlane’s body was recovered in about 17 feet of water by the Hall County Fire Services dive team, according to the Gainesville Times.

The man was around 25 yards from shore when he went under, the Georgia DNR said.
Foul play is not suspected and an autopsy is planned for Tuesday, the newspaper reported.
