Man Charged With Murder In Connection With Hotel Shooting: Police

An Alpharetta man was arrested Sunday in connection with a weekend shooting that left one man dead at a Gwinnett hotel, authorities said.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — An Alpharetta man was arrested early Sunday, charged with malice murder and aggravated assault in connection with the shooting death of a man at a Norcross hotel.

Demetrius Tyree Martin, 33, was taken into custody after he returned to the scene of the shooting at Norcross Inn and Suites, according to a statement from the Gwinnett County Police Department. Investigators said they believed the shooting was "domestic related."

Shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday, officers answered a “trouble unknown” call at the hotel on Bay Circle in Norcross. When they arrived, they found a Hispanic male dead in room 229. “Multiple shots were fired into the room,” striking the victim, according to the statement. The victim’s name is being withheld until his family can be notified.
