In Memory: Carl R. Meyers, Jr. of Loganville

He served in WWII and the Korean War and was awarded the Silver Star.

Carl R. Meyers, Jr. of Loganville, GA left this world on Tuesday, September 22, 2015.

Carl was born September 24, 1925 in Decatur, AL. Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 2:30 PM at Chesnut Grove Baptist Church. Pastor Tommy Jordan will officiate.

He was the son of Carl R. Meyers, Sr. & Alma Meyers. He was preceded in death by his Parents, his Wife Madge & 1 brother, Freddy. Survivors include his best friend, Florence Hay, Brothers William J. Meyers & Wife Barbara and Jerry C. Meyers & Wife Freddie.

Before completing high school, he served 3 ½ years with the 69th Division in the European Theater during WWII. He came back & finished high school & was called back to Serve in the Korean War.

He received many medals & accommodations. He was awarded the Silver Star, the 3rd highest honor bestowed, for action near Hwachon Korea. The citation reads “During this action he was twice wounded by grenade fragments but refused medical treatment & despite painful wounds, remained with his platoon, commanding its action until the objective was taken and the enemy forced to withdraw.”
