ATLANTA, GA — October is synonymous with many things, including candy. If you didn’t get your Halloween candy on sale after last year’s festivities, now is the time to start stocking up for trick-or-treaters that will show up at your door on Oct. 31.
As for what type of candy you want to dole out, metro Atlanta trick-or-treaters definitely have a favorite. Is this a region of chocolate lovers — think Hershey bar, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups or M&Ms — or are non-chocolate treats like Skittles, Lifesavers or candy corn more popular with kids?
CandyStore.com, a bulk candy delivering service, gathered 11 years of data to determine the three most popular Halloween candies in each state. The company says its results also depended on candy manufacturers and distributors to help verify its conclusions.

In Georgia, the most popular treat is Jolly Ranchers, followed by the unique Swedish Fish and Hershey Kisses, per CandyStore.com. The No. 1 choice last year in the Peach State went to Swedish Fish, which is a chewy, gummy-style candy that's been around in the United States since the 1950s.
