Balloons that you were blowing up

Up above the world so high

Somewhere there’s a bright blue sky

It can’t be seen

Through this dim glass

Through fingerprints and dust and ash

How I wonder what you are

Thinking when you leave this bar

Of chocolate

And nuts galore

A-melting on the backseat floor

Like a diamond in the sky

What’s that? Oh, it looks like pie,

A sock, a brush,

A pair of cleats

All smashed into the leather seats

Twinkle twinkle little star

How I wonder what you are

My child, my babe

Born of my flesh

Heart of my hearts: an awful mess.
