'Sneakers Murder Trial' Verdict Reached: 1 Year Ago on Patch

Posted Oct. 4, 2014: Three were convicted of 2012 murder in Grayson of 14-year-old Paul Sampleton, Jr.

A Gwinnett County jury convicted three men Tuesday for the 2012 murder of 14-year-old Paul Sampleton, Jr., several media outlets have reported. All three received life in prison without parole.

Police said the teen was killed over his expensive sneaker collection.

Andrew Murray, Tavaughn Saylor and Larnell Sillah were found guilty by jury for the Dec. 19, 2012 murder at Sampleton’s mother’s townhouse in Grayson. Sampleton was a freshman at Grayson High School.

The Gwinnett Daily Post reported the three wereconvicted on 19 of 20 counts, including malice murder, felony murder and gang activity.
