Investigators said they believe that Burns and Mitchell knew each other and had a domestic altercation prior to this shooting. Investigators also said they believe there were multiple people present during the shooting.

Burns' death was one of two Valentine's Day homicides in Gwinnett County. Shortly before noon, a man was found shot outside a Peachtree Corners apartment complex. No suspect has been identified in that shooting.
