Traffic Alert: Congestion Expected Near Biden Rally In Gwinnett
Drivers should stay clear of the area between the Gwinnett County Airport and Infinite Energy Center, where President Joe Biden will rally.
UPDATE: The White House has announced that President Joe Biden will land at Gwinnett County Airport just before 4 p.m. Thursday.
GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — Traffic will be snarled through much of Gwinnett during Thursday afternoon’s rush hour because of President Joe Biden’s rally at 6 p.m. in Duluth.
Biden is expected to arrive at Gwinnett County Airport in Lawrenceville at 3:55 p.m. From there, he and his entourage will travel to Infinite Energy Center in Duluth for a rally hosted by U.S. Rep. Carolyn Bordeaux. Biden will leave Duluth at 6:40 p.m. and return to the Gwinnett County Airport just before 7 p.m. From there, he will fly to Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Cobb County, leaving Cobb County at about 7:30 p.m. to return to Washington D.C.

Gwinnett police announced that Sugarloaf Parkway from Satellite Boulevard to Meadow Church Road will be closed in both directions from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. While no other official road closures have been announced, it’s safe to assume traffic may be clogged in the area between the airport and the arena.
“Alternate routes will be in place, but severe delays are expected,” said Cpl. Ryan Winderweedle, spokesperson for the Gwinnett County Police Department. “Make plans to avoid the area if possible.”
