Trees On Houses, Wires Down, Busy Night For Gwinnett Fire

Gwinnett County Firefighters responded to several storm related incidents Monday evening as the weather moved through the area.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — Gwinnett County Firefighters responded to a few storm related incidents Monday evening as the weather moved through the area. The following is a brief synopsis:

- TREE ON A HOUSE – Firefighters responded at 5:23 p.m., to an occupant report of a tree down on a house in the 3300 block of Connemara Trace, SW in Lawrenceville. Crews found a large tree down that caused extensive damage to the home and also a vehicle in the driveway. Occupants were home at the time and escaped unharmed. Firefighters secured utilities to the home and placed a tarp over part of the roof. The family will not be able to stay in the home until repairs are made.

- TREE ON A HOUSE – Firefighters responded at 5:36 p.m., to an occupant report of a tree down on a house in the 1300 block of Field Creek Terrace, NW in Lawrenceville. Crews found a tree down in the backyard that hit the roof and caused damage to the roofline over the master bedroom and deck on the back of the house. The occupant was home at the time and escaped unharmed. The tree caused moderate damage.

- WIRES DOWN – Firefighters responded at 6:02 p.m., to a passerby report of live electrical wires down in the 1800 block of Highpoint Road, SW in Snellville. The caller advised that a tree limb was resting on the powerlines. Walton EMC was notified to respond.

- SMOKE FROM UTILITY BOX – Firefighters responded at 5:25 p.m., to a passerby report of a utility box smoking on the side of an apartment building in the 5300 block of Stanford Village lane, NW in Norcross. There was no sign of smoke or fire on arrival. The scene was turned over to Norcross Power and Maintenance for the complex.

- SMOKE ODER INSIDE RESIDENCE – Firefighters responded at 5:26 p.m., to an occupant report of a smoke odor inside a residence and the power out in the 3000 block of South Rockbridge Road, SW in Stone Mountain. Crews found no sign of smoke or fire on arrival. The scene was turned back over to the homeowner.
