What's Open, Closed Christmas Week 2020 In Loganville, Grayson
Check for services and offices in Loganville and Grayson that are closing early this week for Christmas.
LOGANVILLE-GRAYSON, GA — Christmas may be different for those who avoid larger gatherings to avoid the spread of COVID-19. What hasn't changed: Many services in Gwinnett County, Walton County, Loganville and Grayson are closed for the holiday.
While Christmas is a federal holiday, some services may start their closures on Christmas Eve. Here are the openings and closings to know on and around Thursday, Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve) and Friday, Dec. 25 (Christmas).
- Government offices: All Gwinnett County services — except those required for public safety, such as law enforcement and fire and rescue — are closed Thursday and Friday. Walton County government offices closed at noon Wednesday and will remain closed Thursday and Friday. Offices for both the City of Grayson and the City of Loganville will be closed Thursday and Friday as well.
- Libraries: Gwinnett County libraries are closed Thursday and Friday. Normal hours will resume on Saturday. The Grayson and Lilburn branches currently are closed until further notice. The Monroe-Walton County Library is closed Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with normal service resuming on Monday, Dec. 28.
- Public transit: Gwinnett County Transit will offer local and paratransit service only on Thursday, with no commuter express service. No transit service will be offered on Friday, Christmas Day. Regularly scheduled service resumes on Saturday.
- Schools: Students at Gwinnett County Public Schools are on break through Jan. 5. Second semester begins on Wednesday, Jan. 6. In Walton County, school administrative offices are closed until Monday, Jan. 4, with students returning on Tuesday, Jan. 5. Christmas break at George Walton Academy lasts through Monday, Jan. 4.
- Early voting: All Gwinnett County advance voting sites will be closed Thursday and Friday. The sites will reopen on Saturday, Dec. 26, and remain open daily through Dec. 31. Advance voting in Loganville at Meridian Park will close on Thursday and Friday and will reopen on Monday, Dec. 28.
- Health services: Gwinnett, Newton and Rockdale County Health Departments will be closed Thursday and Friday. Regular hours will resume on Monday, Dec. 28. Loganville's office of Northeast Health District will close on Thursday and Friday and reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 28.
- Animal control: The Gwinnett County Animal Shelter will be closed Thursday and Friday.
- Trash pickup: Christmas is a trash and recycling holiday in unincorporated Gwinnett County. Collections will be made on Saturday, the day after Christmas. City of Grayson residential trash pickup for Christmas week will be on Thursday. City of Loganville residential, front-load and roll-off routes will run one day behind on Saturday, Dec. 26.
- Christmas is a federal holiday, and all U.S. Postal Service post offices will be closed. No mail will be delivered or sent. Regular business hours will resume on Saturday, Dec. 26.
- Publix: All stores open at regular hours and close at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve. All stores and pharmacies will be closed on Christmas Day.
- Kroger: All stores and pharmacies will close at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve and remain closed on Christmas Day.
