'Holiday on Pulaski' Happens Friday

ALSIP, IL -- The Village of Alsip is hoping to entice area shoppers to spend some of their holiday dollars at Alsip businesses at the fifth annual “Holiday on Pulaski.” Save the date for Friday, Dec. 8. The holiday event runs from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

Pulaski Road between 115th and 120th streets will be turned in a veritable winter wonderland, where stores and shops will be offering coupons, refreshments and giveaways. Businesses are encouraged to decorate their windows for the holidays. A free shuttle bus will be available to ferry shoppers to stores and other activities featuring entertainment and refreshments. Goodie bags are available to the first 400 people.

There is Yuletide merriment for all ages, including a holiday train, fire safety house and mini fire engines, carriage rides, ice carvings, a laser light show, tree lighting, carolers and store promotions. Santa will be putting in an appearance, along with Those Funny Little People and Minion cartoon characters.

The Prairie Junior High School Band and Choir and Shepard High School Choir will sing the songs of the season, along with crafts and games for children. Craft vendors will also be selling unique gifts and wares in heated tents.

Businesses interested in offering special events and refreshments in their stores who let the village know by Nov. 17 will be listed on the Holiday on Pulaski program map. The map will be posted on the Village of Alsip and Alsip Chamber of Commerce websites.
