Alsip Teen Receives Prestigious Posse Scholarship
Marist senior Joshua Peralta receives Posse leadership scholarship.

CHICAGO, IL -- A Marist High School senior has been awarded a prestigious Posse Scholarship. Joshua Peralta, of Alsip, will attend the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor next fall on a full scholarship, where he will major in engineering.
Peralta is a graduate of St. Catherine of Alexandria in Oak Lawn and was recommended for the program by the Marist guidance department staff. The application process started in the summer of 2018 with a written submission. Three rounds of interviews followed, and Peralta was notified of his award in late December 2018. Applicants select the top five schools from the list of Posse partners and the foundation then matches recipients to the school that best meets their interests and abilities.
Peralta is a 2018 Illinois State Scholar. Along with a primarily advanced placement course load, he has been a member of the math and academic teams, Spanish National Honor Society, and National Honor Society. He has participated in soccer and the Kairos retreat program. He is a student ambassador officer and the vice-president of Students Against Destructive Decisions.
