Car Stolen At Gunpoint In Car Wash, May Be Tied To Others
Suspects in Delta Sonic carjacking may be tied to a failed attempt to steal another vehicle moments later in Orland Park, police said.
CRESTWOOD, IL — Two men carjacked a vehicle at a Crestwood car wash Tuesday morning, police said. Police believe the same men may be tied to a second attempted carjacking in Orland Park that happened moments later.
Around 8 a.m., Crestwood police went to Delta Sonic Car Wash at 137th Street and Cicero Avenue for a report of an armed robbery. A man was getting out of his vehicle when he was approached by two men displaying a gun. Police said the robbers ordered the man to hand over his keys and wallet.
The man was able to back away and push the panic button on his keys. Police said the men reached into the man’s vehicle and grab his cell phone. No shots were fired and there were no injuries. A witness told police he saw the men flee the car wash in a dark-colored Chevy heading south on Cicero Avenue.

Detectives reviewed video from the red-light camera at the Midlothian Turnpike and Cicero Avenue. Police were able to identify the suspects’ vehicle, which was reported stolen in Gary, Ind. Using a phone app, the man’s phone appeared to have been tossed from the vehicle. Officers looked around the area and found the man’s phone.

The same men are believed to be tied to a similar robbery at a dry cleaner in Orland Park that also occurred Tuesday. Police said the suspects could not start the car, reportedly a Lamborghini. The suspects are believed to have used the same stolen vehicle in the Orland Park robbery.
The suspects in the Delta Sonic robbery are described as male blacks in their twenties. In a more detailed description from the Orland Park carjacking, the first suspect is 5 feet 8 inches tall, of average build, with shoulder-length dreadlocks and goatee. The second suspect was reported to be 6-feet tall, with a slim build, wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt.

According to Crestwood police, the suspects are believed to be tied to multiple armed robberies in the southwest suburbs.
Crestwood police said no shots were fired at Delta Sonic, which may be confused with another separate incident that happened Monday at 135th Street and Pulaski Road in Robbins.
