Elim Christian Services 5K to Raise Funds for Bridge Rebuild

Elim's iconic covered bridge that stood for almost 50 years, was washed in May of last year due to flooding.

Elim Christian Services sits nestled on the west end of Crestwood, right on the border with Palos Heights. There almost 230 students and 220 adults with disabilities are being served (less than that during the pandemic, but Elim hopes to be back in full force soon) on Elim’s campuses.

This year's 11th annual Elim Eagles’ Wings 5K is going virtual again due to continued Covid restrictions, which means you can join from wherever you are!

The 5K raises funds that help every part of Elim’s organization, but there’s one extra special thing about this year’s event.

Elim is raising money to replace its bridge, lost in May of last year due to flooding, and the 5K could push Elim over the hump to reach its funding goals!

In the over 50 years that the bridge stood, it became a central part of programs and services for everyone at Elim.

The bridge was a space for students to participate in educational and therapeutic activities, it provided a respite for students and adults, and gave access to both sides of campus due to its centralized location. It also supported special events including the annual 5K and Dutch Festival.

100% of proceeds from the 5K go to support Elim's students and adults, including helping fund the construction of a new covered bridge, an essential part of Elim’s campus and services. Elim invites you to join by going to www.elimcs.org/5K.

Create a team, or join individually and walk, run, or roll for a cherished cause. And with a virtual event, Elim friends and neighbors can participate wherever they are. Follow Elim on Facebook to participate in the Virtual 5K on May 15, as well as to see photos and videos as the bridge is rebuilt in the coming months.

If you would like to register for the 5K, please visit www.elimcs.org/5k. If you have any questions or would like to support the 5K and the rebuilding of the bridge, please contact Geena Calomino at geena.calomino@elimcs.org or 708-293-3678.
