Package Pirates Hit Crestwood, Police Seek Home Security Video

Witnesses told police they saw a car following the Amazon truck. Crestwood police ask residents to. check home security video from Dec. 3.

CRESTWOOD, IL — Crestwood police are asking residents for any home security video that may help them identify suspects in a string of package thefts that occurred on several blocks last week.

Around 1 p.m. Dec. 3, officers responded to a package theft in progress in the 5300 block of Park Lane. Several witnesses said a vehicle had been following an Amazon delivery truck. When the carrier delivered the package, the occupant or occupants of the vehicle would steal the packages. The suspects were seen driving a sedan, possibly a Pontiac.

Officers later learned that packages had also been stolen from the 5300 block of Arbor Lane, 5300 block of Park Place, and the 12700 block of West Playfield Drive.

Suspects matching the descriptions of those in the Crestwood thefts are in the custody of another area agency.

Residents are asked to check home security video to see if their cameras captured the suspects or their car, a Pontiac Sedan. If you have any video that might be useful, please contact Commander Ronan at 708-926-7233.
