Quarantined Alsip Boy Has Birthday He'll Never Forget
Alsip Police Department birthday patrol makes good on promise to cheer up kids during coronavirus pandemic.

ALSIP, IL — Like a lot of kids who are celebrating birthdays in April, Felix Alvarez’s party got wiped out by coronavirus. Thanks to the Alsip Police Department’s Birthday Patrol, Felix’s ninth birthday is one he’ll never forget.
Felix was treated to a parade of police cars that drew many of his neighbors out of their own homes to see who was getting busted. The newly minted nine-year-old received an Alsip PD goodie bag and was the center of attention as a parade of birthday cars streamed past his house.
The Alsip Police Birthday Task Force will surprise kids ages 2 through 13 with a mini birthday parade through April 30, and possibly longer if the governor’s stay-at-home order is extended. Alsip's finest will drive by the birthday boy or girl's house with lights and sirens, letting neighbors know there is a birthday VIP on the block.
