Registration for kids 5-12 is open for Worth Township Summer Day Camp. COVID-19 guidelines will be observed. Camp runs June 21 to Aug. 6.
ALSIP, IL — Worth Township Youth Commission is offering a seven-week summer day camp that includes arts and crafts and recreational sports for children ages 5 through 12. Registration is now open. Spots are limited to 100 campers. The deadline for applying is June 10.
Worth Township camp staff are working hard to reinvent traditional camp games and activities around COVID-19 safety guidelines. Day camp runs from June 21 to Aug. 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is no camp on July 5. The session will go on, rain or shine, with activities taking place inside and outside, at Worth Township Hall, 11601 S. Pulaski Road, Alsip.
Due to COVID-19, swimming at the Alsip Park District will not be offered. Field trips are on hold for now, but be scheduled at a later date pending COVID-19 case numbers. Campers and staff are required to wear face masks and there will be daily temperature checks when children arrive in the morning, as well as social distancing.

The youth commission is also asking that each camper bring his or her own backpack with a filled, reusable water bottle marked with the child’s name, lunch, snacks and other personal items. Parents are also advised not to pack sandwiches containing mayonnaise or cold cuts due to refrigeration not being available because of COVID-19 safety guidelines.
Instead of groups being separated by age and gender, campers will be divided into coed PODS with all age groups together. Siblings will be assigned to the same POD. The cost of the 7-week program is $450 per each camper. Children must be five years old by July 5, with proof of birthday. Camp shirts will be handed out on the first day.
