Sertoma seeking local heroes for annual cook-off event
WANTED! Heroes willing to share their master-chef-skills by volunteering for a good cause

Sertoma Centre in Alsip is prepping for the annual Big Event Heroes Cook-off fundraiser, and we invite all fire, police, and other emergency professionals to join us for this friendly but fierce competition. No matter the uniform, if you consider yourself a grilling guru or a BBQ boss, then this competition is for you! Bring on your best “hero” dish, from chicken and chili to ribs or any other specialty fare, to battle against top amateur chefs from the city and suburbs.
The 2021 BIG Event Heroes’ Cook-off on May 22 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm is back in person this year, offering guests both in-house and curbside takeout options. Chefs must prepare sample size portions and will be reimbursed for food expenses. Bragging rights and trophies will be given out for People’s Choice and Best in all four categories: Chicken, Ribs, Chili, and Ethnic/Other
Chefs, it’s time to sharpen those knives, get your spice racks in order, and sign up now!
