St. Jude Knights Invite Kids To 'Try Hockey For Free'

Boys and girls ages 4-9 to try youth hockey for free with the St. Jude Knights Hockey Club this Saturday, March 3, at Southwest Ice Arena.

CRESTWOOD, IL -- St. Jude Knights Hockey Club invites boys and girls ages 4 through 9 to “try hockey for free” this Saturday, from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3. Kids are invited to lace up skates and slap some pucks around the ice to experience St. Jude hockey. The event will take place at Southwest Ice Arena, 5505 W 127th St, Crestwood.

There is no skate rental fee. Equipment will be provided if needed. Kids should bring a bicycle helmet. Youngsters will be coached by St. Jude hockey alums, and players from Brother Rice. Mt. Carmel and St. Rita hockey teams.

“It’s a day for any child, boy or girl, to try hockey for free,” club president Tony Defilippo said. “If you want to play hickey at Brother Rice or Triple AAA, we want to help you get there.”

Following the time on the ice, children and their parents will receive a complimentary lunch. Coaches will give parents an overview of St. Jude Knights Hockey and programs. About 300 families are involved in St. Jude’s league. Teams play at Southwest Ice Arena, Oak Lawn Ice Arena the Morgan Park Sports Complex.
