Worth Township's food distribution event originally set for the last Thursday in January has been POSTPONED UNTIL FEB. 4.

ALSIP, IL — Due too weather and logistics Worth Township's food distribution event originally set for Jan. 28 has been POSTPONED.
The drive-thru emergency food drop has been rescheduled for Thursday, Feb. 4. Food boxes will be distributed on a first come, first served basis starting at 2 p.m. Feb. 4 in the parking lot of the township hall at 11601 S. Pulaski Road, in Alsip.
The township is working with the Economic Development Strategies Corporation. The Chicago-based non-profit organization has partnered with companies and community organizations to distribute prepackaged fresh produce and non-perishable goods to hundreds of families in the Chicago area through its mobile emergency free food distribution program, Food For Hope.

Worth Township has been holding food distribution events since July. The USDA boxes contain meat, produce and dairy. In November and December the township distributed 500 boxes at its food distribution events. You do not need to live in Worth Township to participate.
"A lot of people don't want to go to the pantries because of their pride. That bothers me," said Cindy Young said, director of the township's food pantry. "We try to help people maintain their dignity."

Worth Township serves all or portions of Alsip, Blue Island (half), Bridgeview (a small section), Chicago Ridge, Crestwood (north half), Evergreen Park, Hometown, Merrionette Park, Oak Lawn, Palos Heights (east half), Robbins (north quarter) and Worth (east three-quarters).
