$45 Million Mansion: Tour Illinois' Most Expensive Home For Sale
Six bedrooms. 7.5 baths. Seven city lots. And at $45 million, it's a steal compared to what it cost to build.
CHICAGO, IL — Are you ready for a real estate bargain? Because for the reduced price of $45 million, this massive Lincoln Park mansion could be yours. Completed in 2010, the former home of United Automobile Insurance CEO Richard Parrillo and wife Michaela cost a whopping $65 million to build and was originally listed in 2016 for $50 million.
Now that the price has been slashed, this home where no expense was spared could be yours, complete with a winding grand staircase, marble floors and a motor court filled with gravel imported from France, according to Curbed.
The site reported in 2016 that the Burlington Street mansion set a new record as the most expensive listing in Chicagoland, beating out a Trump Tower penthouse that listed for $32 million back in 2011. That home wound up selling three years later for $17 million, meaning that even if the Lincoln Park mansion sells for half of its asking price, it would still break that record. However, it would not quite hit the record set by the $58.5 million that Chicago's richest man, Ken Griffin, paid for his condo in 2018.
