Northwest Homer Fire Protection District responded to a house fire early Saturday morning at 14332 S. Archer Ave. in unincorporated Will County. Upon arriving at the property shortly after 12:30 a.m., firefighters encountered heavy smoke. Significant damage occurred and several people were left without shelter.

A man on the property became combative with a Will County Sheriff's Department deputy, and the man was Tasered and handcuffed. Additional police from Lockport and Will County were called to the scene.
