Bike Path Connection Plans Move Forward In Lockport

The new bike path would be between Cedar Ridge and Prime Boulevard, and will connect to the Veterans Memorial Trail.

LOCKPORT, IL — A new bike path connection to Veterans Memorial Trail will move forward after the Lockport City Council approved a $41,900 agreement with V3 Companies for project design and other permitting assistance.

The new bike path would be between Cedar Ridge and Prime Boulevard, and will connect to the Veterans Memorial Trail. The Veterans Memorial Trail currently begins in Romeoville, through Lemont and ends in Woodridge, but plans call for the trail to eventually extend all the way to New Lenox.

In 2019, Lockport contributed $575,000 to help the Forest Preserve District of Will County match 20 percent of a $5.3 million federal grant for a 3.5-mile segment of trail in Homer Township from 159th Street south to Hadley Valley preserve.
