Brush Fire Smoldering For Days Near Lemont, Homer Glen: Village
The Northwest Homer Fire Protection District has responded numerous times to address the fire, the Village said.
HOMER GLEN, IL — A large brush fire has been smoldering for days near the boundary of Homer Glen and Lemont, according to the Village of Homer Glen. The Northwest Homer Fire Protection District has responded numerous times to address the fire, the Village said.
The Village said the fire started outside its boundaries on the northern border of the Village, and it is working with several agencies including the Army Corps of Engineers, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Agency, Northwest Fire Protection District, Lemont Fire Protection District, Lemont Township, Cook County Building & Zoning Department, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, Cook County Code Enforcement and the Will County Sheriff’s Department.
The Village did not give details on an exact location or how the fire was started.
