LOCKPORT, IL — A building in Lockport is a total loss after a fire on Sunday, the Lockport Township Fire Protection District said. The fire district responded to the structure fire in the 14600 block of Archer Avenue at 11:17 p.m. Sunday.

When fire crews arrived, they found a metal pole building, which was used for storage, fully involved in fire. The fire district said crews went into a defensive operation working to extinguish the fire.

Since the building was located in an area with no fire hydrants, several mutual aid departments were called to shuttle water to the fire. The district said the fire was brought under control in just under an hour, but crews remained on the scene for a couple hours doing overhaul and extinguishing hot spots.
