Cause Of Death Still Pending After Mother, Baby Found Dead: Cops

LOCKPORT, IL — The cause and manner of death of a woman and baby found dead Friday morning in a Lockport home is still pending toxicology results, police told Patch Monday. The identities of the woman and 14-month-old girl have not been released, but police confirmed to Patch that they were mother and daughter.

Police said they do not believe there is any threat to the public due to this incident.

Officers first responded to a call at 8:17 a.m. Friday reporting a person found dead in the 900 block of South Hamilton Street. Officers who arrived found a 32-year-old woman who was dead with her wrists cut. The 14-month-old girl was also found dead but had no apparent signs of trauma to her body, according to police.

The person who called police was a relative of the 32-year-old woman, authorities said.

Police said the investigation is still active, so limited information can be released.
