Crest Hill Home Damaged In Weekend Fire, Family Of Four Displaced

Officials said crews from fire departments in​​ Lockport, Plainfield, Romeoville and Troy responded to the Saturday morning house fire.

CREST HILL, IL — A family of four was displaced over the weekend after a fire broke out in a home in Crest Hill.

In a news release, Lockport Township Fire Department said the fire was reported at 2:17 a.m. on Saturday. By the time firefighters arrived, heavy flames were visible from the rear of the home.

The release stated the homes' residents — two adults and two children — were home at the time of the fire. They were alerted to the blaze by a neighbor pounding their door.

The fire department said the family was able to safely evacuate from the home and no one was injured. The Red Cross arrived to help the family with their immediate needs.

The blaze was classified as a Full Still, officials said, so additional crews were brought in from Homer, New Lenox and Romeoville to support.

The house fire was extinguished some two hours after crews arrived on scene, officials said. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
