Homer TWP. "Independent" Candidates head to Circuit Court
"Independents"Can't Run as a Slate. Need 204 signatures EACH but only have 272 signatures for all 9 people, attempting an End Run of the Law

The Homer Township Electoral Board composed of John Kruczek who's wife is running for Clerk as an "Independent" candidate, Margaret Sabo, and Ethel Rodriguez who are long time friends of current Supervisor Pam Meyers who is also running as an "Independent" candidate.
Will County Judge Kennedy removed all of them because of their bias. Three retired lawyers appointed by the judge to replace the 3 hand picked by the Homer Twp. Board.
The argument was very clear. An "Independent" candidate for the April 6, 2020 election was required to get no less than 204 signatures to get on the ballot. The Independent "slate" violated the law since each candidate did not file 204 valid signatures on their own individual, independent petition. 9 Candidates filed 336 Signatures of which 54 were bad leaving 272. If each candidate filed the minimum of 204 signatures added together they would need a total of 1836. Instead this group of Independents are trying to make an end run on the law. They did not want to put in the time of effort to get the proper amount of signatures to show they have enough support to run for election.
