It is with profound sadness that I share with you a tragedy in our Homer 33C family. Last night, one of our students, a third-grader at Schilling School, passed away suddenly at home. The cause of death is undetermined at this time and an investigation is underway. Words cannot express our grief and heartfelt sympathy. We are not releasing the name of the student at this time out of respect for the family’s privacy. ...

The loss of someone so young is a tragedy and can generate a high level of anxiety and stress for some students. Healing will require time and effort. If you feel that your child is having difficulty, we encourage you to discuss their thoughts and feelings to help them work through their grief and concerns.

In Homer 33C, we are fortunate to have a team of experienced counselors, psychologists and social workers who can provide needed comfort and support to students and employees. They will be available for students and staff to talk to throughout the week for however long needed.

This post will be updated as necessary.
