District 33C Moving To Remote Learning On Monday
The decision to move to remote was based on current staffing issues, sub shortages and the positivity rate in Homer Glen and Lockport.
HOMER GLEN, IL — After a week of hybrid in-person learning, District 33C in Homer Glen will begin fully remote learning starting Aug. 31. According to a letter from Superintendent Craig Schoppe, the decision to move to remote was based on current staffing issues, sub shortages and the positivity rate in Homer Glen and Lockport.
On Monday, the district shared that one staff member had tested positive for the coronavirus and one was awaiting results. Several teachers were working remotely as a result, since they had close contact with one of the staff members.
"I recognize that this shift comes at a great cost for many working families within our district," Schoppe wrote in a letter to the community.

He said the district is working to create a plan and approach that will get students back in-session "as soon as possible."
"Our goal is to return to in-person learning as soon as we have address the reasons that required us to move to remote learning," Schoppe said. He encouraged substitute teachers to reach out to coordinator Pat Flounders at pflounders@homerschools.org.
