Homer Township Library: Incumbents Projected To Win

HOMER GLEN, IL — The incumbent Homer Township Library Board trustee candidates are projected to retain their seats, according to Tuesday's unofficial results. Kathryn Mitchell, Phyllis Dahlstrand and Eileen McCaffrey are the projected winners of the race.

Four candidates ran for three open positions on the library board.

Tuesday's election results are unofficial until certified by the county on April 27. Provisional Ballots cast on Election Day and all late Vote By Mail Ballots postmarked by Election Day will be counted at Provisional Count on April 20, according to the county clerk's office.

18 out of 18 precincts reporting:

• Robert Mikols - 1,877
• Kathryn Mitchell - 2,680
• Phyllis Dahlstrand - 2,098
• Eileen McCaffrey - 2,587

Dahlstrand, McCaffrey and Mitchell are all current board members.

Mikols is retired, but previously worked in the trucking industry. In his questionnaire, he wrote that "taxes and regulations" are the most pressing issues for the board.

Mitchell is a former employee at the library, and has served on the board for the last eight years, according to the library website.

Dahlstrand is a retired physical therapist, and has been on the library board since 2009. She wrote that the most pressing issue facing the board is meeting the demands of a growing Homer Township, while being fiscally responsible.

McCaffrey is an elementary school principal, and wrote that the most pressing issue for the board is "increasing the available resources and programs at the library," including space.
