Several other roads in the area are also closed, so be cautious if you are heading out.

HOMER GLEN, IL — Will-Cook Road is closed from 159th to 151st Street due to flood, the village said. Access to the road is for local traffic only. 159th Street in Homer Glen is also closed due to flooding between Bell Road and Parker and between Parker Road and Cedar Roads, the village said. Parker Road remains open.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch through Tuesday night for Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Ford, Grundy, Iroquois, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall and Will counties. Several rounds of rain and thunderstorms are expected through Tuesday night and into Wednesday. An unusual pattern of warm air, more typical of April shower season, is striking the polar air across the Midwest and delivering this pattern of rainstorms, according to the NWS.

The village advised residents that 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock over an adult. It takes just 12 inches of rushing water to carry away a small car, while 2 feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles.
