Four In Custody After Shooting, Chase In Lockport: Sheriff
Four people were taken into custody after a car crash and a canvass of nearby neighborhoods in Lockport, according to police.
LOCKPORT, IL — Four people are in custody after a shooting in unincorporated Lockport Township and a subsequent chase in Lockport, the Will County Sheriff's Office said. At 3:20 p.m. Friday, deputies from the sheriff's office were called to the 2100 block of Arthur Avenue about gunshots fired in the area.
According to police, a witness saw three different cars driving in the area, shooting at one another. The three vehicles were a black Dodge Durango, a small, black SUV, and a silver sedan.
Police said a deputy who was in the area saw the Dodge speeding and started to pursue. The car was traveling in excess of 100 mph in a residential neighborhood. The officer lost sight of the vehicle near Farrell and Bruce roads, and the Lockport Police Department was notified.

According to police, Lockport Police officers were able to find the black Dodge Durango traveling northbound on Gougar Road near Route 6. The car got onto I-355, where Lockport Police and Illinois State Police began to follow the car.
Police said the vehicle crashed at I-355 and 163rd Street in Lockport. Two suspects were taken into custody by Illinois State Police at the crash scene. Additional suspects fled on foot from the crash.

Canvasses of nearby neighborhoods were conducted by the Will County Sheriff's Office and the Lockport Police Department, and Lockport officers were able to find two more suspects and take them into custody, police said.
The four suspects were taken to the Will County Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Complex for questioning.
Deputies also found a duffle bag in the area of the 16600 block of Watters Drive in Lockport that contained an AK-47 style pistol that was loaded with 7.62 rounds, police said.
Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators conducted a canvass of the area and located numerous videos from residents placing the bag and the firearm in the hands of the suspects, the sheriff's office said. No one has been charged as yet, and the investigation is ongoing.
