Freezing Rain, Dangerous Roads: Winter Weather Advisory For IL
Crashes and school closings were reported throughout the Chicago area.

Freezing drizzle on Wednesday morning has caused several school and road closures, including dozens of crashes reported on major roads. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory until noon for Kane, DuPage, Cook, Kendall, Grundy, Will and Kankakee counties.
The freezing rain has caused a light glaze of ice on untreated roads, parking lots and sidewalks, according to the NWS. Conditions are very hazardous for both motorists and pedestrians. Illinois State Police said crews are out salting roads, but advised drivers to use caution and to stay home if possible.

The freezing drizzle will change over to flurries by late Wednesday morning, according to the NWS. However, drivers should still be cautious out on the roads. Drivers can allow extra travel time, reduce their speed and increase their following distance.
