Homer Township Board Increases Rent on Founders Crossing Seniors

Rents to rise by $1200 per year in senior community.

Homer Township Supervisor Steve Balich and his Board of Trustees voted to increase monthly rent payments for seniors living in the township owned Founders Crossing Senior Housing units. Current rent for the units is $850 per month. At the June 21, 2021 Special Township Board Meeting the Board approved a $600 per year increase to take effect September 1, 2021 and an additional $600 increase to take effect March 1, 2022.

Many residents of the complex live on a fixed income and will struggle to keep a roof over their heads. During the meeting there was no discussion or analysis of the reason for the increase. Letters informing the residents of this action have been mailed and for many of the residents this was the first they had heard of the increase.

The next regular Homer Township meeting is scheduled for July 12, 2021 at 7pm-check the Township website, www.homertownship.com, for details.
