Lenten Fish Fry Options Offered In Lockport

LOCKPORT, IL — The Friday Night Lenten Fish Fry landscape is going to look a little different in 2021. Many organizations are choosing to hold carry-out or drive-thru events, or are limiting capacity for in-person.

In Lockport, both the VFW Post 5788 and American Legion Post 18 will host Friday night fish fry events for Lent.

Lockport VFW Post 5788

• 1026 E. 9th St., Lockport
• Fridays during Lent from 5 to 7 p.m. starting Feb. 19 through March 26, 5 to 7 p.m.
• Beer-battered Icelandic cod 3-pc $9 (4pc $11); Fish and shrimp combo and panko crusted butterfly shrimp combo (8 pc.), $11; premium chicken tender dinner, with choice of dipping sauce, $8; soup du jour and starters $5.
• Dine-in and carry-out options available

John Olson Lockport American Legion Post 18

• 15052 Archer Ave., Lockport
• Cod, catfish, sea bass, shrimp, combo (shrimp and cod), baked walleye and chicken strips. All dinners include: baked potato or tater tots, coleslaw, bread and butter.
• Fish Fry takes place every Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Bremen VFW Post 2791 (Tinley Park)

Will be held Fridays during Lent from 4 to 7 p.m. starting Feb. 19 through March 26, at VFW Post 2791, 17147 Oak Park Ave., Tinley Park. Carry-out only.

Menu includes: Corona battered cod, Red Hooke Ale battered haddock, Chipotle-lime tilapia and chicken nugget kids' plate, including tater tots, salad, bread and butter, desserts, coffee and tea. Dinners are $10.

Cash and credit cards accepted.

New Lenox Harry Anderson VFW Post 9545

Will be held Feb. 19, Feb. 26, March 5, March 12, March 19 and March 26 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at VFW Post 9545, 323 Old Hickory Road, New Lenox.

Orders should be phoned in to eliminate waiting; phone-in orders will start at 3:30 p.m. You can call 815-485-8369 to place your order.

New Lenox Knights of Columbus

Will be held Feb. 19, Feb. 26, March 5, March 12, March 19 and March 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Jude Church, 241 W. Second Ave.

A shrimp dinner is $11, a shrimp and cod dinner is $11, cod dinner is $10, three fried fish sliders is $9 and a grilled cheese is $4. Cash, checks, debit and credit cards will be accepted.
