The council approved a $10,000 grant request from Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church and a $1,700 request from Tailoring By Anna.
LOCKPORT, IL — As part of the City of Lockport's facade and site improvement grant program, the City Council approved two grant requests at its Wednesday council meeting. The council approved a $10,000 grant request from Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church and a $1,700 request from Tailoring By Anna.
The church, 925 E. Ninth St., requested funds through the program for the replacement of its monument sign, according to council documents. The sign is difficult to see for drivers traveling west on Ninth Street, so the church wants to replace and relocate the sign on a higher portion of land.
The church received three quotes for the sign, with the lowest at $32,189. The program allows for a 50 percent match up to $10,000 for site improvements, according to council documents.
