LOCKPORT, IL — Eight street lights will be installed in Parkside Estates, after approval at Wednesday's Lockport City Council meeting. The council approved a proposal from Meade, Inc., for $85,525.84 to install the streetlights as part of phase 2 of the subdivision.
According to council documents, the majority of the public infrastructure for Parkside Estates was completed in 2004. However, the project stalled due to the recession, and only recently began development again.
The city accepted $238,293.20 from First Midwest Bank for the release of the two letters of credit for the development, council documents state. $113,147.30 of that money was used for roadway in the subdivision, leaving $125,145.70 for future improvements.

City Administrator Ben Benson said the city spoke to the contractor about making the fixtures LED fixtures, which would change the price of the proposal. He asked the council to amend the proposal, subject to a new price, which would be a less than 10 percent increase of the current quoted price.
The council unanimously approved the proposal.
