Lockport Extends Watermain For Sloyan Building Site
The city is in the process of redeveloping this area into an "artisan business park," council documents state.
LOCKPORT, IL — Watermain will be extended for future development at the Sloyan building, 201 W. Sixth St., after approval from the Lockport City Council at its Wednesday meeting. The council approved $40,000 for the watermain extension, which will add 180 linear feet of 6-inch watermain, six yard hydrants and one standard hydrant.
The site of the old Sloyan building is currently used by Second City Greens, a hydroponic growing operation. The building itself was demolished in 2019 by the city.
According to council documents, the city is in the process of redeveloping this area into an "artisan business park." Additional water capacity is recommended to support projected growth, according to council documents.
