Lockport Fatal Hit And Run: Police Seek Info From Public

LOCKPORT, IL — Illinois State Police are asking the public for any information about a fatal crash which took place Sept. 19. According to police, troopers responded to the scene of a motorcycle hit-and-run crash on Route 171 northbound at 151st Street in Lockport.

Police said the driver of a vehicle was driving west on 151st Street, turning onto Route 171. Witnesses told police the driver turned right in front of a motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to swerve to avoid the vehicle. The driver of the motorcycle lost control and was ejected.

Police said the driver was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

The driver of the car is reported to be a middle-aged white woman with brown hair. She pulled over temporarily before leaving the scene of the crash, police said. The car was described as an older, silver, four-door sedan, possibly a Hyundai or Honda due to the letter "H" on the trunk, which was seen by witnesses. The car also may have sustained front-end damage.

After leaving the scene, police said the vehicle was reported to have continued driving northbound on Illinois Route 171.
